New screenshots...
Posted on 1.4.2005 @ 14:34:27 EST by Max

We've added some new screenshots to the Screenshot page. These feature a new town by MaxG (some indoor and outdoor shots). And if you haven't already seen our GUI work on the forum, you can take a look in the screenies.

A Desparate Attempt at News!
Posted on 12.15.2004 @ 15:52:01 EST by Sim

Firstly, sorry for the apparent lack of activity lately. Suffice to say that we're still here, and now that I've remembered my news password, I'll endeavour to post some updates more often.

MaxG recently completed the graphics for a new town area. I'm not quite sure if it's the same size as Brushome or larger. Artistically, I'd say it beats the hell out of it though. While the original plan was for this to replace the original Brushome, we decided it would be more sensible to use it as an additional town alongside the existing one. While this lets us concentrate on adding new content, we're still going to be refining what's already there as well.

Some screenshots of this new area will likely follow when we've populated it a little more.

A new in-house beta...
Posted on 10.2.2004 @ 17:49:43 EDT by Max

So I released the first "real" beta version following our demo to our team today. We've got a few talented modders, namely Igi and Seb, who should help speed up the development and content process. I didn't want to make a big deal of it, but my computer--the one that hosted our team FTP and the updated game files--had its partition screwed. I had to reformat and reinstall windows, so I lost all the files and information. FORTUNATELY, I had some duplicates on my other computers and our files were spread out among the other team members, so I was able to recover nearly everything.

MaxG finally has had more time and is near finished with an entirely new village that I think you guys will dig. There would have been an update sooner than this if the rest of the team managed to remember their News passwords. :-P I'm trying to think of some more news, but I'm at a loss at the moment. If I think of anything more, I'll post on the Dev Diary.

I'm working crazy hard again. Damn.
Posted on 6.14.2004 @ 20:01:39 EDT by Max

This is sort of a follow-up to the last post from April. Yeah, Ajoc said we have a new plot. We do, a lot of it's worked out (if backwards). Currently, I'm working stupidly hard a number of simultaneous projects. You can take a look at an early work in progress of the new GUI I'm making here.

In other news, exams are all done this year for the young'uns (me, Sim, and Ajoc), so I'm psyched. Near the end of the summer, I'll make my way to Rensselaer Polytechnic, majoring in Computer Science. I'm going to go blind with all the time I spend staring at the screen. That shouldn't stop me from working on Glory of Istar.

News? What's that?
Posted on 4.7.2004 @ 3:14:07 EDT by Ajoc

For all those of you holding your breath, you can stop.

After a bit of what we'll call a post-demo hiatus, it seems to me that things beginning to move again, at least discussion wise. Max, SimDing0 and I all put together the basis of a plot which takes off from the demo and we feel is a lot better and manageable than the previous idea, which, looking back, seems a bit forced.

Still chugging...
Posted on 12.30.2003 @ 7:50:49 EST by Max

Right, given some questioning of this project's continuance on the forum, I'd like to reassure all you casual visitors that the Glory of Istar project is certainly NOT dead. Work continues, albeit a bit slow over the holidays, do in most part to loads of schoolwork for most of us (most notably myself and MAXGraphics). With a little luck, however, that should pass soon.

On a better note, I taught myself how to do character animation last week, so the minotaur is not just a dream any longer. I may also have screenshots of a massive new outdoor area for you. Maybe not. It all depends if you're interested...

This is actually Max...
Posted on 11.8.2003 @ 14:00:06 EST by Ajoc

On the DLTC WORLD TOUR!!! ... Sort of. I'm in England, and currently on Ajoc's computer. Sorry for not having replied to much in the last few days.

I'm sure work is continuing while I'm away... especially from Sim. Sim, work.

Demo Patch Version 1.00a Released!
Posted on 10.29.2003 @ 16:18:53 EST by Max

After all the bug-crushing, cursing, and compression routines, the first (and hopefully last?) patch for the Demo version of the Glory of Istar has been released. Get the information and the download here.

Have fun and remember to check the forums! We want to hear what you have to say!

The Flood Gates Have Opened
Posted on 10.18.2003 @ 16:46:27 EDT by Max

I repeat: The Flood Gates Have Opened. Make way for the long-awaited Glory of Istar Demo! Head to the Download Page to pick it up.

After over a year of development, the playable demo of Glory of Istar (Dragonlance TC for Baldur's Gate 2) has been released!

This demo brings you the opening chapter of a whole new Infinity Engine game set in the lavish world of Krynn! Baldur's Gate 2 and the Throne of Bhaal expansion (with the latest patch) are required to play Glory of Istar, but the storyline is unaffiliated with either.

The final game is intended to be around the size of BG2: Shadows of Amn. The demo release includes the opening chapter of the main storyline, offering several hours of playing time. In addition to large quests and intrigue, many of the traditional rules and systems used in the game have been changed to provide a fresher roleplaying experience. You will encounter brand-new NPCs as you navigate tense local politics, and explore a world dominated by extremes of good and evil... or so it would seem. The Infinity Engine rules have been streamlined to better suit the Krynn universe, with exciting enhancements to gameplay that will appeal to any experienced D&D player.

Glory of Istar brings you:
- A whole new game set in the Dragonlance universe!
- New and unique features such as feats, subraces, deities, new playable races, and an all-new spellcasting system.
- Numerous quests set in beautifully rendered, completely original areas.
- New, multifaceted NPCs, with extensive dialog and voicing.
- A new music score composed especially for the TC.
- And, yes, kender and their pilfering ways.

The support forum can be found at:

Head over, join the DLTC community, and grab the download! Istar awaits!

Announcing the grand count-down!

Yes that's right, the ugly white box up there is indeed the count down to the demo of Glory of Istar!

Assuming everything works out, the demo will be available to download when this counter hits zero, in time for the weekend...

Here is a link to the readme if you haven't already read it, to give you an idea of whats in store...

Thanks for the support of our forum members and I hope you enjoy the demo! Expect another news post on release...

Just don't do your eyes in staring at the gimmicky counter! :P

New Voice Actor
Posted on 10.11.2003 @ 16:47:01 EDT by Max

A note and an acknowledgement, first of all, to our newest voice actor, known on the forums as Devil. I'm not sure how much is okay for me to tell everyone, so I'll just say that he's a professional voice actor and does awesome, awesome voices. More quality. Yay.

Beside that, not that it's amazingly important, but you can check out a sneak peak of the Demo's readme on the forums.

That's all for now.

-Max

Yeah...
Posted on 9.28.2003 @ 15:53:49 EDT by Max

I'm being prodded into an update here by Ajoc. So yeah... most aspects of the demo are done now and we're waiting on a few fixes and some more NPC dialog before a release. Hold tight...

Things are beginning to move again...
Posted on 9.1.2003 @ 19:23:08 EDT by Ajoc

After the unavoidable summer slow down with team members, forum members and beta testers all going on holiday and generally being lazy, things are starting to pick up with school starting and so on.

Max kindly made us a new beta (Beta009b) today because I couldn't be bothered to download all the updates which happened while I was on holiday, and it is installing as I type... We hope to get some more team multiplayer sessions going, for fun and bugfixing purposes, as well as possibly one day releasing something publically.

-Ajoc

Still Here!
Posted on 7.28.2003 @ 5:58:05 EDT by Sim

We are still alive! The TC is currently in a phase of bugfixing and stuff, and Max decided to remake a huge part of it for some reason, meaning that it should be better than ever. So... yeh.

New Site Design
Posted on 6.21.2003 @ 20:56:29 EDT by Max

I was getting tired of the old design and thought it might give a bad impression of Glory of Istar, so I threw this design together from some random renders, logos, and screenshots we had lying around. Hope you like it.

I should mention that, although it looks like there's more graphics now, the load size is a few KB less than what we had before. Ah yes, I finally figured out how to compress images efficiently... I'm such a poor webmaster. ;-)

Minor update...
Posted on 6.20.2003 @ 10:54:53 EDT by Max

Just thought I'd let you know that both the FAQ and Team pages have been amended. Glory of Istar will now have new music thanks to the talents of DaernX, our newest team member.

Beta009 released
Posted on 6.12.2003 @ 16:40:50 EDT by Max

Despite the lack of news updates lately, we actually have been doing stuff. Beta Version 009 is now in session and is open to hand-picked beta testers. Sorry folks, don't call us, we'll call you. Also, if you haven't seen it yet, there's a new FAQ section here, which should hopefully clear up any confusion people had before. Read it carefully. Over and out.

In-house Beta008 released...
Posted on 4.12.2003 @ 17:45:04 EDT by Max

Just thought I'd update you all on the status of our beta. The majority of the beta is finished. All that's left is touching some things up and adding in another NPC.

Er... April Fools

For anyone who doesn't read the forums, it's probably fairly worth knowing that the last news item was an April Fools joke, so... um... yeah.

Tragic News
Posted on 4.1.2003 @ 9:22:48 EST by Agent009

With my condolences, I must report that Max Schnur, the leader of the DLTC, lost 7 fingers yesterday in an auto-accident.

It happened at 11:43PM on Wilcher Road in Cranford, NJ after he dropped off his girlfriend, Nicole Alexander at home. On the way home, it appeared a car swirved into his lane, he overcorrected, and ended up cramming into a telephone pole.

The fate of DLTC is on hold. Please stand by....pictures to come.

Suspicious Emails
Posted on 3.2.2003 @ 15:07:32 EST by Agent009

Well, you might have already read this in the Developers' Diary, but recently, it has come to our attention that viruses are being sent out through the email accounts at dragonlancetc.com.

Please DO NOT download ANY of these attachments as they are most likely a worm. We did not send any of these emails; we figure it is most likely some 14 year old kid who thinks it's cool to play with my SMTP Protocol, or just maybe a worm in itself.

Until further notice, delete ALL email coming from @dragonlancetc.com.

Some non-News
Posted on 2.26.2003 @ 5:28:56 EST by Ajoc

Since we haven't had any news for a while I thought I'd update with something to make it look like we still live, and possibly say something worthwhile at the same time.

So, a DragonLance mod you say? I think the main work currently has been (as usual) bug finding and stomping, and more interestingly, we have been scouring the InfinityEngine community for anyone and everyone with a microphone to lend us their voices so they do us some sound clips. We want the demo to leave as little to be desired as possible, and a lot of the team felt some of the main characters would be let down without some voice overs. So contact us if you are set up to record and we will get you to send some sample clips (We especially need female voices).

And on the subject of main characters, if you hadn't already looked, a Personalities page has been added so you can check out the characters in the up-and-coming demo.

An update of sorts...
Posted on 2.6.2003 @ 15:30:16 EST by Ajoc

I thought I'd test out the news system and provide you with a brief update on our progress.

The demo is, as always, in a perpetual state of "coming right along", but I think we have pretty much concluded what's going in and what will have to be cut out, because currently as one thing finishes another starts. So now a cut off point is pretty much set, and quests are being wrapped up and the current beta is being bug tested and improved upon as best we can. As for when the demo will be finished, I cannot say and we are not setting ourselves deadlines...The time it takes is mainly because we want the demo as smooth and bugless as possibly so as to make good first impressions, which could play on the game's overall success. For my own honest opinion, I feel the TC's coming along nicely now, especially with plot and direction settling now, and the new features/systems implemented, but there is always room for improvement.

The new server and forums are great, and looks like we moved at a good time, with TeamBG's current database problems (try the forums if you hadn't already checked...). Can only hope it recovers soon...

Update/Testing...
Posted on 1.20.2003 @ 16:20:51 EST by Max

Current Build: Beta007

As you can see, we've moved to our own dedicated server, www.dragonlancetc.com. Our own forum is also available by the link to the left. Guest posting is enabled, but you can register very quickly, too.

On a more important note, the beta is still moving along. I recently packed up Beta007 and distributed to the team for testing. We're getting there, still plugging away to get a demo ready. :)

I did a complete overhaul of the spell system to make it more user-friendly, and I think you guys will like it a lot once you take a look. Hmm... too many more things to mention here. If you have any questions, ask on the DLTC Forum. :)

Edit from Ron: Sorry about how the forum looks... I'm working out a non-abrasive color scheme as you are reading this. ;-)
